Benefits of Being Kind
Did you know there are scientific benefits of being kind? It’s true. There is a TON of research that proves that kindness matters

Kindness increases: the love hormone, energy, happiness, lifespan, pleasure and serotonin. And, kindness decreases; pain, stress, anxiety, depression and blood pressure. You can read more about each of these benefits on RAKs science of kindness page.

Kindness is also teachable. “It’s kind of like weight training, we found that people can actually build up their compassion ‘muscle’ and respond to other’s suffering with care and a desire to help.” -Dr. Ritchie Davidson

Kindness is also contagious. The positive effects of kindness are experienced in the brain of everyone who witnessed the act, improving their mood and making them significantly more likely to “pay it forward.” This means one good deed in a crowded area can create a domino effect and improve the day of dozens of people! -Jamil Zaki

We don't know if it would be too farfetched to say that likely every person on the face of the earth has experienced kindness in one form or another.  At The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation we work hard to help create those opportunities and support people in finding ways to be creative and impactful when they are given the chance to be kind.

Knowing that kindness impacts us physically and emotionally, how can we add more kindness to our everyday lives?

This year for Random Acts of Kindness Day on Friday, February 17, 2023, we have a simple ask. We invite you to join The Kindness Experience as an opportunity to engage in a simple random act of kindness and experience the benefits of kindness for yourself. It’s easy. It’s fun. Anyone can participate!

The motivation for kindness isn’t so we can share our good deeds with others, but we do know that sharing motivates others to be kind. If you’re comfortable, we’re asking you to share your Kindness Experience by emailing us @info@randomactsofkindness.org or tagging @rakfoundation. Imagine a world where all of us are working to #MakeKindnesstheNorm.

If you don’t want to share publicly, consider joining our amazing community of worldwide RAKtivists (Random Acts of Kindness activists). We are intentionally building this community with exclusive resources to help amazing humans carry out kindness in the communities they work, play and live.

Thank you for being you!
