Teaching Our Children About Kindness Through RESPONSIBILITY
Our kids pay attention to everything that we do. By teaching our kids about responsibility within our homes, we're teaching them how to be kind in the rest of their lives as well.

I came across an image on Pinterest this morning about 'Family Rules' and it caused me to stop and think about what 'rules' we live by in our home. We have some of the traditional rules of 'Make Your Bed', 'Put Your Laundry Away', and 'Help With Chores' which help keep our busy household running smoothly and teach the kids about taking responsibility for their things.

I like knowing that they're learning the foundations of the teamwork involved in being a family too. But the rules that stand out the most to me are the rules that teach our kids about taking responsibility for their actions and behaviors, because those are the lessons that teach them how to treat other people in their lives. These are rules such as 'Keep Your Promises', 'Share', 'Think of Others Before Yourself', 'Do Your Best', 'Use Kind Words', and 'Love One Another'.

My kiddos are now teenagers and the 'rules' have become a way of life for them. It warms my heart to know that they're learning how to be KIND above everything else. And that they're not too 'cool' for one of my favorite rules: 'Hug Often'. So what's your favorite 'rule' that inspires KINDNESS?
