Scared in the hospital
I was in the hospital for major surgery, but did not want my husband and son to know I was afraid. I joked and smiled and said it would be just fine. Then the man wheeled me away and down to the waiting area where I got the IV. I was so afraid that I started to cry. He found a chair and sat next to my gurney and held my hand, talking to me about just random things, until the anesthesia took effect. I fell asleep and never saw him leave. I don’t know who he was but I never forgot his kindness.
