Sad Times Call For Kindness

My mother had passed away. It was a very traumatic event for my family and I. I work for a Public and Mental Health Department. I knew how to handle my stress and trauma, but at this point it was unbearable for only little ole me. I needed a friend or someone to lean on. I never told anyone that, but I didn't have to. I had tremendous outpour of support from my coworkers, friends and even some strangers that knew my mother, but I had never met. She left this world with no life insurance, no will, nothing. I was her only child. She didn't have anyone else, but me. I was in charge of figuring out funeral arrangements and the cost of it all. If it weren't for the kindness of my community, friends, etc. I truly do not know how I would have been able to pull it off alone. My coworkers were so kind, they donated some of their own personal time to me so I could have paid days off from work to grief and handle the situation. Strangers in the community were donating to her funeral fund, and I was able to completely fully cover the cost with their help. I had people start meal trains to deliver my family and I dinners so that cooking was not something I had to worry about on top of everything going on. I will never forget the Kindness I experienced within my own community. Small Towns can be good or bad, it all depends on the kindness of others. My community chose to be kind to someone in their time of need and I will most certainly pay it forward when it comes my turn to lend kindness and a helping hand.
