It was recently employee appreciation day and while I had planned stuff to do for the employees in my organization I didn't want it to just be about me recognizing all the hard work and effort they were doing but I wanted to make sure that people were recognized from their peers. We already have a recognition piece as part of our work culture but it's use is hit or miss. So on employee appreciation day I had a bucket, some pens, and a stack of note cards. I asked all employees in the office to take the time to write notes of gratitude on cards and to put them in the bucket. At the end of the day that Friday; every single employee had a note of gratitude on their desk from someone. It was great to see what people had written to their co-workers and their words of thanks.
