Words can heal, they can bless, they can bring comfort and they can transform lives. So choose to be an affirming person. Offer encouragement freely to your friends, co-workers, and family, and without any expectation of anything in return. You can always find something positive to say in any situation, it just depends on your perspective. Be generous with your words of affirmation to all those around you, and most importantly, to yourself.
It can take up to ten positive comments to counter-act one negative one. Positive affirmations are a very powerful tool. They change how we think and feel about ourselves, which will then helps us transform our attitudes and actions with others. When we think positively about ourselves, our perspectives change and we are more able to see the positive in others.
Say at least one affirming thing to every single person you have a conversation with today. Do this for a full week, and note how your attitude and perspective begins to change. Are your interactions with others more positive?
Start small. When someone emails you with a problem at work, take a moment before responding. Think of something that individual does well, and praise them for it. Then address the problem presented in the email. Suddenly the problem won't seem like that big of a deal to you or the person you are corresponding with. You will both feel more capable to hand the situation gracefully.
