New cities and towns can be confusing. We've all been lost before! Whether you've just moved into a new neighborhood or you are visiting a city for the first time, it is easy to get overwhelmed and confused. So when someone stops you to ask you for directions, take a minute to help them out. Even if you are busy or running late, at the end of the day you won't regret taking an extra minute to help someone in need.
Helping other people find their way will only add to your own knowledge of your surroundings. You may learn a thing or two about your own city or town! Listen to what the person is asking; they may be looking for a place you didn't realize existed.
Do more than just show them how to get where they need to go, offer to take them all the way there yourself! That way you ensure they don't get lost again. In the process, get to know the people you are helping and make a new friend!
It is possible you genuinely don't know how to get to where someone needs to go. If that is the case, then help them find someone who does! Direct them to a policeman or a gas station where people are likely to know the area well. Or if you have a smart-phone, take a minute to log onto the internet and pull up a map to share with the lost individuals.
