Rich Luker has spent 25 years investigating American social development, and in 1999, he identified a dominant sense of loss of community felt by most Americans. Today, Rich's work aims to spark the revival of community in America.
Rich began to develop strategies to reinvigorate American community in 2001. The most successful to date is the NCAA Division II strategy, which aims to create campus community through engagement in shared experience. He is currently developing similar strategies for high school through the National Federation of State High School Associations and through Minor League Baseball. In 2009, Rich published his book Simple Community, which documents the loss of American community and provides a way for American companies to invest in restoring community.
