"A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love." - Saint Basil
Take a couple minutes to think about how the kindness of your family and friends, and even strangers has made a difference in your life. Think about how the smallest acts of kindness you’ve received have made an impact on you. Well, you can become part of the circle of kindness. Just make a commitment to creating more kindness in your everyday life. Take some time to jot down all the kindness ideas you can think of - and then perform them!
Once you become more aware of the many ways you can be kind to others, you’ll be more conscious about how you treat those you come in contact with on a daily basis, and most likely, you’ll make more of an effort to perform random acts of kindness. With every act you carry out, you'll be contributing to making the world a better place.
Brainstorm and then make a list of all the ways you can practice kindness. Then, set a goal for yourself and work to complete the ideas on the list! Share the list with your friends and encourage them to start their own kindness list.
Keep a list of the acts of kindness you see that are performed by those around you. Did a classmate smile at you today? Has someone every held the door for you? Did a friend or parent listen to you last time you were struggling with something? Be inspired by the ways others are kind!
I'm going to do this for my birthday. Between 7/20 and 7/28 I will perform 53 random acts of kindness half of which will be anonymous. I'm using this site and your great ideas :)

I like the thought of doing it for your birthday. The only problem with that is my b-day has already passed this year. I will just have to do 25 RAK's before the year is up. If I finish those I will do more.

Totally going to do this and my birthday has already passed as well. But I will be doing a short list before the end of the year and another one for my birthday next year. Awesome idea!!!

This website is truly inspiring to me, and just to see all of the great comments from people everywhere wanting to start a movement and see a change in our world is amazing. It only takes one step to make a difference in someones life. Thank you to all who are trying.

I began my list for the year on Christmas Eve 2012. Looking back at it periodically definitely encourages me to do more. There are so many easy things you can do to make a person's day easier. For example, I live in a cul de sac and all of my neighbors (without discussion) have agreed that whoever goes out first brings the garbage pails to the head of the driveway for all of us so that when we get home from work, we can pull in without having to stop to get the pails first. Simple but helpful in a tight space. Good luck everyone! I especially like the birthday idea from Lisa in Philly!

I will be 60 on August 30th and plan on completing one RAOK for each year by my birthday. I've completed 6 so far and was looking for more ideas when I came across this site. I have asked my friends and family to celebrate my birthday by doing a RAOK instead of getting me a card or a gift. So far the feedback I've received from this request has been extremely positive with people planning what they will be doing for me :)

I will be 60 on 9/20/13. Eleven years ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer with a poor diagnosis. I am grateful for every day I have been given. To celebrate my 60th, I have posted on Facebook asking my family and friends to help me celebrate my birthday by committing one RAK between now and the end of the month. I am amazed at the support I am receiving. I will have far more than the 60 I was hoping to get. Life is good!!!

I teach a College Success Class and I have been trying to think of ways to make my students aware that success in life comes from more than a paycheck. To this end, I plan to borrow information from this page and others to help my students become more aware. Plus, I have set a goal to do at least 27 RAK by the end of the year in celebration of my birthday!
