Would you keep a promise made 25 years ago, especially one that requires you to think about it every single day?
Years ago, a Good Samaritan—a stranger—went out of his way to help Betsy and a friend when they were stranded in an unfamiliar area, their car broken down on a Sunday afternoon. He accepted no payment beyond a promise that Betsy and her friend would pass along the kindness to others.
Now Betsy, a social worker with Jewish Family Services in Rhode Island and a married mother of two boys, has decided to pass on that kindness in a big way. She made a committment to commit and act of kindness for a stranger every day for a year and write about it each day in her blog The Kindness of Strangers.
