We have a new reading group on facebook, Bas Bleu. We will be reading one book a month.
The current book we are reading was suggested to me by someone on facebook, Silver Boxes: The Gift of Encouragement by Florence Littauer. The end of the month we will discuss it and rate it.
There is one idea I really like and that is giving ourselves away. Giving yourself away is the opposite of looking to see what can be grabbed out of life, but it is far more rewarding. Another phrase for this is random acts of kindness. It is suggested that we make this our hobby...a little game of sorts. Always be on the lookout for new experiences of giving-away to add to your "collection"...
The great thing about this form of hobby is there is no need for cabinets or shelves to hide the collection, no need to dust either!
To do this hobby we have to be alert to every circumstance and the needs of those around us at any given moment. Act quickly or the moment is gone. Miss an opportunity and we learn better how to do it the next time! See how quick you can become at meeting needs or giving encouraging words or smiles or whatever the hobby of giving of ourselves calls for.
Happy giving!!!
