[title_alias] =>
[introtext] =>
A random act of kindness is to smile; to give an unsolicited smile to a stranger, to someone that you pass on the street, to someone that you make eye contact with. "A smile confuses an approaching frown" . When I smile I suddenly find my body relaxing and everything easily falling into place.
Smile. It is, or can be, such an easy thing to do and yet most of us so seldom use this powerful tool to deal with so many of the challenges that come to us regularly. A smile will release endorphins, natural, pain killers and serotonin - these make us feel good and therefore change our mood.
Smiling also helps the immune systems to work better and it lowers the blood pressure. This is truly a natural drug. Smile and your face lifts making you look younger and feeling more successful as well as more positive.

When I acquire a skill or receive a tip that enhances the quality of my life then I am truly grateful and consider it a random act of kindness from the Universe. Such is the case with a tip that was shared with me about stress control and one that I use regularly since having received it. Furthermore, I share this simple practice with anyone that asks me how I can appear so calm in a given stressful situation.

Recently I was sent a YouTube clip, via Facebook, titled When Love Hurts.
It set me back a bit because to me love and hurt are at opposite ends of the spectrum. How could love cause hurt? At about the same time I saw an article in a newspaper also with the title Love hurts - more than you might think. .

[title] => Gracious Receiver
[alias] =>
[title_alias] =>
[introtext] =>
Acts of Kindness - We read and hear regularly about self-less people who give, who sacrifice but that coin has another side to is and many of us have a challenge with this other side - being a gracious receiver. That also is a great act of kindness.
Significance of receiving - If the receiver is humble and deflects the compliment or the gift, with a dismissive "I don't deserve it; I'm not worthy or it ..." then the giver is short changed and the interaction of giving and receiving is totally deflated.

[title] => Validation
[alias] =>
[title_alias] =>
[introtext] =>
The main impetus of this site is to help readers get happy! And although getting happy is always an inside job sometimes a little help makes the task easier. One of the nicest external forces that bring on happiness is validation.
Recently I shared an amazing video about validation. As I watched it I tried to dig up memories of moments of validation that I had experienced over the years. I will not deny that there have been some: an academic award of excellence, a win in a sport competition, a compliment made in passing. But the most amazing validation that I have yet experienced in this lifetime came in the form of a letter - a card actually - from my youngest child.
